VCF Mestalla win season opener against CD Castellón B
VCF Mestalla beat CD Castellón 3-1 on the first matchday of Group VI of the Tercera RFEF. Miki's opening goal, accompanied by strikes from Alberto Marí and Bashiru in the second half, earned a win on the day in which spectators returned to Antonio Puchades.

The game started with a goal on 3 minutes, as VCF Mestalla took the lead with a great header from Miki off a González corner. Unfortunately, that was soon levelled by Castellón B's Nacho Gimeno.

With the match tied, VCF Mestalla tried long range efforts from José David and Gozálbez, and had a penalty appeal for Hugo González waved away.
In the second half, VCF Mestalla looked for the lead by bringing on Fran Pérez, and tried to find superiority on the wings against an increasingly withdrawn CD Castellón B, especially after Iván Llorens was sent off for a second bookable offence.

There was a double chance for Fran Pérez and González, saved by the goalkeeper, but a patient move in the subsequent attack was where the next goal was found: Pedro Alemañ would send a ball into the six-yard-box that Alberto Marí finished off with skill.
In stoppage time, the goal that killed off the game arrived off a counter-attack by Pérez, turned in by Bashiru. VCF Mestalla won their first home game of the season 3-1 at the Antonio Puchades.
